Search for Tonga Resorts Tonga has four main regions to visit. The main island is Tongatapu with the capital Nuku'alofa and the international airport. Tongatapu is a good island for exploring with lots of accommodation including several beach hotels and beautiful offshore island resorts. The Ha'apai Group, about 100 miles to the north, is a collection of tiny coral islands. They are mostly undeveloped with gorgeous beaches - a few have small guesthouses. Further north, about an hours flight from Tongatapu, the second most popular destinatuion is the Vava'u Group.
